RO-RA previously operated an outdated SmarTeam database for PDM (product data management). To meet the aerospace industry’s evolving needs and work with newer CATIA V5 releases, an upgrade was necessary. The objective was not only to replace the old system but to enhance collaboration, speed up project workflows, and advance digitalization to improve competitiveness.

CAD data management as the first step toward PLM implementation

RO-RA management recognized the need to align with supplier chain obligations by transitioning to CATIA V5 and eventually to CATIA 3DEXPERIENCE, as required by major OEMs. As a result, 3DEXPERIENCE emerged as the only viable solution.

The implementation of CAD data management marks the first step towards establishing a comprehensive, collaborative PLM system. This system will allow future integration with ERP, CRM, or MES platforms and the potential to gradually introduce functionalities such as requirements management, change management, and project management.
